When thinking of body sculpting treatments, most people will tend to think of things such as liposuction, or perhaps other treatments that specifically help to reduce the appearance of fat. Such treatments are great at treating pockets or bulges of fat, however it is worth noting that a lot of our body (just over a third) is made up of muscle. Furthermore, there are treatments that are designed to sculpt the body’s muscles, such as Emsculpt. As a matter of fact, Emsculpt London is a treatment which has the best of both worlds, because it both develops the body’s muscles and reduces fat at the same time. To understand Emsculpt a bit better this article will go through what this treatment is and how it works.
What is Emsculpt?
Emsculpt is an FDA approved, non-surgical body sculpting treatment. It is a treatment with both cosmetic and health benefits, for example it can strengthen the body’s core and glutes, and it can also improve some hip and back pain. In fact, many patients who already have fit and active lifestyles find that having Emsculpt makes them stronger, for example by being able to lift more, and/or run faster. It is able to be used on several different areas of the body, such as the abdomen, the arms, the legs and the buttocks. It is a treatment that was developed relatively recently and it has gleaned considerable popularity in a short time, both because of its results, and because of how Emsculpt usually has minimal discomfort and often no downtime after treatment.
How does Emsculpt work?
Emsculpt works by using high-intensity, focused, electromagnetic energy (HIFEM for short). This HIFEM goes beneath the skin and creates an electromagnetic field, causing muscle contractions. The contractions increase muscle mass and they also help with the process of sculpting abdominal muscles. Effectively, the energy from HIFEM acts as if you were having a very intense workout, without the process of actually having one. This experience of such an intense workout forces the body to remodel its inner structure, so that there is less fat and more strengthened muscle. Depending on which part of the body is chosen for treatment, an Emsculpt procedure can take varying amounts of time. If you have Emsculpt performed on the abdomen or buttocks then treatment will usually take around 30 minutes, whilst Emsculpt on the biceps and triceps takes around 20 minutes each. Furthermore, after treatment there will need to be a minimum of 4 sessions with your practitioner that are scheduled at least 2 to 3 days apart.
There have been multiple studies carried out regarding the effectiveness of Emsculpt which show that even up to a year after these treatment sessions, patients are still satisfied with the results of the treatment. The muscle mass built up from Emsculpt usually lasts around 6 months on average. To help retain the results of an Emsculpt treatment for longer, it is possible to have further maintenance treatments where your practitioner can help and advise you about further treatment as well. As always, having a healthy lifestyle and keeping to a routine of regular exercise can also be helpful.
